| About Dr. Carolyn Finnegan
I was first introduced to chiropractic in 1998 when I fell in my exercise class and injured my neck and low back. I was in a lot of pain, and did what most people would do, I went the medical route. I tried a wide range of remedies: painkillers, exercises, massage, physical therapy, and even acupuncture. After six months, however, my pain had not gone away and was actually getting worse. Finally, as a last resort, I went to a chiropractor. Amazingly, I felt a LOT better after only a couple of visits. Not only did my pain improve, but I started living life again, my sports performance improved, I sat more comfortably at my job, and I even slept better. What a profound experience. My treatment exceeded my expectations, and because of my desire to help others, I felt that I had found my calling. No sooner than I regained my health, I quit my marketing job, and re-enrolled in college with the goal of becoming a chiropractor.
I was born in Oakland and have lived and worked in the San Francisco Bay Area for most of my life. I love it here. I am an avid traveler and have traveled to 35 countries as well as all over the United States. I have lived in Baltimore, Spain and Guatemala. All the travel I have experienced over the years has only served to make me more appreciative of what I love about the Bay Area, specifically the diversity and open mindedness of the people. The Bay Area also allows me to do the things I enjoy most: swimming, backpacking and hiking with my two Australian Shepherds, Jackson and Kuma.
I take tremendous pride in offering an innovative, balanced approach to help patients realize a pain-free and productive life. I work on young patients to help them grow up strong, elderly patients to keep them moving pain free, and all ages in between. I have worked extensively with pregnant women to enable them to have an easy and comfortable pregnancy and delivery. I strongly believe that healthcare is a shared responsibility, with equal accountability resting on doctor and patient. Doctors should base decisions not only on the best chiropractic and medical evidence, but also on the attitudes, concerns, and preferences of the patient. I try my best to explain alternatives, risks and benefits of possible therapies. I am convinced that each patient has great potential to optimize their own health through their own actions. I am fully committed to providing each patient with an individualized diagnostic and therapeutic approach to assist them in their journey to live a healthier and more fulfilling life.

About Dr. Charlene Lohmueller
My family and I moved to the Bay Area from Ithaca, NY in January 2010. We lived in Ithaca for four years while I attended chiropractic school and my husband completed his Ph.D. in genetics. After graduating from chiropractic school, I worked as an associate in a busy chiropractic office in downtown Ithaca. There I had an opportunity to treat a wide array of patients - from pregnant women, children, and the elderly to athletes from the Cornell Men's Track Team and members of the general population. This experience has opened my eyes to the full potential of chiropractic for alleviating many physical complaints, including musculoskeletal pain, pain during pregnancy, headaches, sciatica, TMJ pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, and many others. I am proficient at adjusting almost any joint in the body - both spine and extremity - and I complement the adjustments with the necessary soft tissue work and rehab exercises. This combination of manipulation and muscle work has helped provide many of my patients with long-term relief from their pain.
I live in Berkeley with my husband and our toddler son. Adapting to East Bay culture was easy. We love the abundance of sunshine, mild temperatures, freeways, access to good Chinese cooking ingredients, and wide array of fresh vegetables and fruits brimming out of farmers' market stands. My husband works as a post-doc at UC Berkeley while our son spends most of his time at the local playgrounds and attending Oakland A's games with his father.
